As we've already approached the second anniversary COVID-19 pandemic (lol, remember whipped coffee?), it's more important than ever to remain diligent.
After what we saw with the highly contagious Omicron variant — cases skyrocketing and ICUs filling up seemingly out of nowhere when things seemed stable — wearing a quality protective face mask (a surgical mask, N95 mask or double-masking with a fabric mask) is the easiest way to protect yourself, second only to getting vaccinated.
When it comes to wearing protective face masks, they must fit correctly. That means the mask sits snugly under your chin while covering your nose and mouth, leaving no gaps for air to escape. If you need a good visual, check out this infographic from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
The thing is, most adult surgical masks are one size. This meant that both my 5'2", small-faced self and my 6'4" boyfriend were buying the same box of masks. While they fit his face snug as a bug, I resorted to clipping the ear loops under my ponytail to my baseball cap and making little knots with the ear loops. It was a pain.
Then, everything changed when I found my saving grace on Amazon one day. A box of disposable surgical masks — made for children. Yes, I am a 26-year-old woman wearing a mask for kids.
Before you ask if all child-sized face masks will fit small adult faces, the answer is no. I had to try about four different brands of surgical masks to find my Goldilocks box, the BLScode Disposable Kids Face Protective Masks. They are not too small and not too big, but just right and snug.
Amazon shoppers agree that these masks are great for both children and big kids (read: adults) with small faces. "Even though it is made for kids, it actually fit my face fine," wrote one shopper. "The straps are pretty sturdy and seem to be durable even after hours of playtime from my son. It never feels too tight, and the surface that comes into contact with your face feels fairly soft and non-abrasive."
Another adult-sized reviewer wrote, "I got this for my teen daughters and wife, all of who have unusually small faces and have a hard time wearing adult masks. They say the fit is just right and that they are easy to breathe through."
You can buy the blue masks in packs of both 100 and 50. They also come in black, pink and a colorful variety pack if you want to spice it up and bring out your inner child.

NEW DELHI (Reuters) -A team of Indian officials met the acting Taliban foreign minister of Afghanistan on Thursday to discuss bilateral ties and humanitarian aid, the Taliban said, in what was the first such visit to Kabul since the chaotic U.S. withdrawal last year. NEW DELHI (Reuters) -Some officials in India are ignoring or even supporting rising attacks on people and places of worship in the country, a U.S. official said late on Thursday, drawing an angry reaction from New Delhi which called the comments "ill-informed". The remarks by Rashad Hussain, who leads the U.S. State Department's efforts to monitor religious freedom around the world, accompanied the department's annual report on global religious freedom. It said attacks on members of minority communities, including killings, assaults, and intimidation, occurred throughout last year in India.

Goldman Sachs believes China’s biggest stocks in onshore and offshore markets can rally by 20 per cent over the coming months. At least seven hurdles are blocking the recovery path, the US bank said. Demand for diversification from China-mandated investors, slowing economic growth and corporate earnings, lack of forceful policy easing, disillusioned foreign funds, and underlying geopolitical risks are some of the reasons its buy recommendation since late last year has not quite paid off. “The st
India's dominant services sector expanded at the fastest pace in 11 years in May on strong demand, although inflationary pressures touched new highs, restricting optimism and weighing on consumers' pocketbooks, a private survey showed. The S&P Global India Services Purchasing Managers' Index rose to 58.9 in May from 57.9 in April, its highest since April 2011 and comfortably beating the Reuters poll expectation of 57.5. "The reopening of the Indian economy continued to help lift growth in the service sector," noted Pollyanna De Lima, economics associate director at S&P Global Market.
