COLUMBUS—The second day of the Fair will continue to offer exciting activities including free live music, livestock exhibitions, thrilling performances, demonstrations, and hundreds of rides and games. Here’s what you can look forward to for tomorrow, Thursday, July 28:

Telhio and Ronald McDonald House Charities Day: When you bring one of the following “wish list” items per person to a booth outside the gates, you’ll receive a voucher good for a BOGO free admission ticket before 6 p.m.: plastic zipper baggies, trash bags (kitchen or 60 gallon), aluminum foil, plastic food wrap, ready to eat meals, or canned food (protein appreciated). All donations will support families at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio.

WOSU Kids Day: Join WOSU Public Media in Central Park for a chance to meet some of your favorite PBS KIDS® characters! The event, designed to keep the whole family entertained, will offer PBS KIDS® crafts, coloring, educational activities, and games. See PBS KIDS® characters throughout the day for photo opportunities: Daniel Tiger Katerina Kittycat Nature Cat Jet Propulsion Elinor Xavier Riddle

Photos with costumed characters will end at 3 p.m.

Free Entertainment:  The Ohio State Fair offers free live music performances every day, and tomorrow you can catch local Columbus blues artist Will Freed at Noon and 2 p.m. on the AARP Gazebo Stage, and Gahanna-based artist PJ North at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on the Main Street Stage. Swing by the Natural Resources Park amphitheater for everyone’s favorite lumberjack show, the Great Lakes Timber Show, at 2 p.m.

Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers: Named entertainers of the year by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) in 2019, Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers have consistently delivered chart-topping radio hits and energetic performances for nearly 15 years. The Radio Ramblers are seen by tens of thousands of bluegrass fans every year and since 2013 have become regular guests on the historic Grand Ole Opry. Xenia-based Mullins and his band will perform a free concert in the beautiful Natural Resources Park amphitheater at 4:30 p.m.

Livestock Exhibitions: Junior and open livestock exhibitions continue tomorrow, with multiple opportunities to catch our livestock exhibitors in action. Come to the Brown Sheep Building to see the Open Sheep Show at 8 a.m. or the Junior Breeding Sheep Showmanship competition at 4:30 p.m. The Ag-Pro Companies Taft Coliseum will feature the Junior Regional Summer National Holstein Show at 9 a.m. and the Junior Dairy show at 1 p.m. The Open American Boer Goats Association (ABGA) competition will take place at Noon in the Voinovich Livestock & Trade Center.

Concert: Generation Radio with special guest Alex Miller will play a free concert at the WCOL Celeste Center at 7 p.m. as a part of the Ohio State Fair Concert Series powered by AEP Ohio’s Smart Grid. The band is comprised of members from Rascal Flatts (including Ohio native Jay DeMarcus), Chicago, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, as well as musicians who have played alongside Christina Aguilera, Reba McEntire, and other big-name performers. Special guest Alex Miller, who after making himself known on season 19 of American Idol, will open the evening of free entertainment, included with Ohio State Fair admission.

Operative Plasterers & Cement Masons Unions Great Lakes Apprenticeship Demonstrations; ACT Ohio Construction Demo Days and Little Builders Zone:  Through July 29 only, dual trades events on the Cardinal Patio will provide education and hands-on entertainment. At the Little Builders Zone, kids can try hands-on construction activities in more than 10 building trades, see live construction demonstrations, learn about building trades careers, and meet the construction tradespeople who build Ohio. The Operative Plasterers’ & Cement Masons’ Unions Great Lakes Apprentice Demonstrations allows apprentices from around the state to showcase their talents by doing hands-on demonstrations of their respective crafts.
