RiverView Health is offering a free Scrubs Camp to juniors and seniors in high school for the 2022-23 School Year that are thinking about a career in healthcare. The Rydell National Wildlife Refuge is hosting an Introduction to Archery at the Rydell Refuge from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16. The event is for youth ages 8-16 and is free with no pre-registration required.

The building is located on the south side of Hwy 71 on NWROC’s campus. Parking is available across from NWROC’s office building. The Crookston Splash Pad at the Ray Ecklund Complex is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. through Labor Day.

The Crookston High School is opening its Weight Room for all High School students to use this summer. The Room will be open Monday through Friday for 9th-12th grade students from 6:00 to 7:15 a.m. or 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. and Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays for 7th and 8th-grade students from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

Twig and Branch Collection will be held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, running from May through October. Place the materials on your curbside. Branches must be cut in four-foot lengths and bundled in order for the crews to take them away. Any branches or tree trunks not cut to this length and bundled will be left for the owner to haul away. Twigs may be in boxes or bags. Individuals removing their diseased elm trees should call City Hall to schedule a pickup.

Second booster doses of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are now available at Altru Clinic in Crookston for people 50 and older and those 12 and older who are immunocompromised. The second booster dose must be administered at least four months after the first booster. Adults who received Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) for their primary vaccine and booster dose at least four months ago may now receive a second booster dose of Pfizer or Moderna only. The Golden Link is serving noon lunch Monday through Friday. The cost is $7. Veterans’ meals are half price on the first Monday of the month. Call 281-3072 by 10:00 the day you plan to have lunch. 

The Crookston Friends of the Library meet on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

The Crookston Library Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:15 p.m. 

The Cove Youth Center in Crookston is open Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Students and parents should call ahead to check the availability of the youth center at 218-470-0149. 

Polk County Public Health is available to answer questions about COVID 19 and help obtain essential services such as groceries, medications, and other daily items at 281-3385.  The phone is staffed Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
