Promising Review: We’re an ice-hungry household, and our refrigerator rarely can keep up. I bought this little unit on sale during Prime Day and I’ve been satisfied ever since. This unit can make both large and small ice cubes, and there was ice ready to use within minutes of first plugging it in. Ice, ice making and the water reserves all exist in the same internal chamber, and refills are straight forward.

There are red indicators that alert the user to empty water reserves or a full ice tray, these can be a bit finicky to turn off once the issue is remedied, but a good ol’ hard reset often fixes the problem. The ice full indicator can also be prematurely triggered depending on how the ice falls, which stops production. Overall, the unit does exactly what it says it does, and I’m pleased with my purchase.

Promising Review: I ordered this for myself for Mothers Day lol and it’s the best! I have always wanted one so I used the holiday as an excuse for the splurge. My entire family LOVES it. We are all hydrating more than ever, which is good and as a chronic ice chewer this ice is soft and so great. Only true ice lovers will understand the difference between bullet ice (melts super fast and just weird), ice machine ice (too ice) and this Sonic ice! Lol

Great in mixed drinks too like margaritas etc.I have it on top of my wine fridge which isn’t near water so we just refill whenever the light pops on. It make ice quickly. My kids tend to take the ice without refilling, but I’ve trained them (teens!) to fill it when the light flashes and they do a pretty good job. I fill it once a day - it’s quick and easy.

Promising Review: We bought this because we don’t have an ice machine in our fridge and my boyfriend loves cold drinks, and he was having his 2nd hip replacement in a month and we needed an abundance of ice. For the price point we figured if it worked half as well as others said we would be happy. set-up was easy, and maintaining is just as easy. It is an ice maker, not a freezer. Ice will melt after awhile if you just leave it in the machine without it on.

Since we needed so much ice we started emptying the ice into a cooler for later use. We basically ran this thing almost 20 hours a day for a month. it worked PERFECT! Surgery was beginning of April 2022, it is now mid July and we still use it every day for drinks and cocktails. We start it in the morning and let it run all day so we have ice water, and then cold drinks in the evening. Even for parties it seemed to make enough ice.

We normally don’t leave reviews but this machine has greatly exceeded our expectations. We would recommend this machine over a $500+ machine any day!!!

Promising Review: I’m writing today to say that I have owned this unit, the GE Opal 1.0 Counter Top Ice Makersince June of 2021. I couldn’t be more satisfied (unless the price was lowered by half. In that case I would buy 3 more and gift them to my kids). This unit has run for over a year, non stop, except for cleaning purposes. I does one thing and one thing only.

It makes the nugget ice that goes so well with drinks you want cooled with ice. And this unit, when you start with a full bin of ice, keeps up well with several people needing ice at the same time. Now, I have had no breakdowns of any kind. One time I had a piece of paper block the compressor cooling air intake located on the side of the machine. The unit did shutdown do to overheating which is an automatic function. When it cooled off, it started right back up and went on making ice. And I have had no problems since.

There was an unexpected bonus too. I was checking my bluetooth settings on my phone and saw the OPAL Bluetooth was available. I downloaded the app and was able to connect to the OPAL and now I am able to manage a few functions on the machine. There is no wi-fi support though, on the 1.0 The 2.0 does have wi-fi with more functions available. I do recommend this unit.

Promising Review: We do not have a fridge with an ice dispenser in either of our refrigerators and my husband always had to buy a bag of ice to have in his freezer. The spaces in our home do not allow room for the side by sides. So he has this in his “mancave” and it is easy for him to have ice on demand now and he is thrilled! Great purchase!
